FINAL HOME
Founded in 1994 by Kosuke Tsumura under Issey Miyake’s supervision, Final Home operates as a dystopian project rather than a label. Taking inspiration from science fiction movies like Blade Runner, Akira and Star Wars, Tsumura became fascinated with the necessity for function in a post-nuclear war setting.
The Japanese native crafted pieces with intent for industrial environments, doing so with intense detail oriented thinking and longevity in mind. Final Home clashes art with design through zippers, cargo pockets and multi-purpose motifs, widely accredited as techwear before techwear. The hyper-utilitarian project has shifted our lens in which we view fashion, thinking so far beyond the traditional scope of invention. Kosuke Tsumura executed a vast idea with personality and skill, keeping to his roots while progressing through a variety of ingenious thinking.
