00’s Yohji Yamamoto Pin-Up Girl White Graphic T-Shirt
After 50 years since founding, Yohji Yamamoto still reigns as the king of black. Provoking the anti-fashion movement throughout the 70’s alongside romantic partner and designer, Rei Kawakubo, Yamamoto has worked and succeeded in redefining contemporary fashion. In use of billowing silhouettes, the core constructs of the designer’s process ring true to his roots, compounding in development over decades of refinement. Yamamoto - still chief of design, continues to bring inventive, intriguing, yet distant walks atop the runway, garnering a cult-like following as a result of such.
Yohji Yamamoto’s infatuation with the Americana aesthetic has been prominent since his earliest days of design. The creative has shown a reoccurring interest in “pin-up girls”, a phenomena that modelled the idealized feminine body throughout the 50’s, plastering garments with the assorted motifs. As showcased in the t-shirt above, a woman sits on a hot pink phone, gazing outwards towards the viewer. The image contrasts against the bellowing white base, fitting a size large, in good condition with some use.
