Neon Genesis Evangelion is a series directed and animated by Japanese creative Hideaki Anno in 1995. Through a 26 episode cartoon and follow-up feature film in July of 1997, a die hard fan base was cultivated around a post-apocalyptic sci-fi manga. While incredibly complex and vastly intricate, the storyline centres around Shinji Ikari, a student recruited to pilot a massive bio-mechanical robot and fight alien entities known as “Angels”. In an attempt to destroy and retake earth, these extraterrestrials fight to reach Lilith, who is an ancient creation of the First Ancestral Race and the creator of all humanity, as well as all non-Angelic life on Earth. While incredibly brief, if touched, all life would be destroyed aside from Angels, providing an incentive for such an attack.
Debuting in the 2000s, this pair of jeans was crafted in part with Nishiki. Depicting an EVA or ‘Evangelion’ cyborg atop a heavyweight denim base, harsh whiskering coats the thighs and bottom hem, in pair with grid-like stitch patchwork detailing on the back pocket and waistband. To finish, red smoke rises from the left leg, accenting the metallic hardware and indigo wash. With a wide, baggy cut, these bottoms fit a size 36x32.5, in pristine condition throughout.
