2005 Yohji Yamamoto Y’s For Men .925 Silver Winged Skull Chain

Yohji Yamamoto embarked on his first journey into the vast world of fashion in 1981 under the namesake “Y’s”. Originating as a womenswear line, Y’s was our first look at Yamamoto’s designs in a feminine light, only launching his menswear label three years later in 1984. Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme debuted, bringing the same draping cuts and gothic palette embraced today, but was highly experimental, and catered towards the eccentrics of the runway. Enter Y’s For Men, a toned, wearable label that cater to a rather conservative persona, rather than the typical “overlord” silhouette associated with Yohji Yamamoto’s designs. Begrudgingly discontinued in 2009, Y’s For Men brought an assortment of gorgeous essentials that still resonate with the Japanese designer’s ethos.

 

Etched from a fully .925 silver base, this accessory features a winged skull pendant atop a rolo style chain. Hand carved, the high level of technique and craftsmanship is apparent throughout, as engraving reads “2005” and “.925 silver” on the underside. In great condition throughout with light use, stretching 17.75 inches in length.
