90’s Jean Paul Gaultier Pink Belted Bondage Strap Cargo Pants  

 

Jean Paul Gaultier—the French designer who has truly mastered the art of bold, abstract and stunning full print garments. Gaultier founded his menswear label in 1984, pushing social boundaries from the beginning. Consciously reconstructing the vision of beauty, he experimented without remorse. Utilizing rebellious textiles, Gaultier conveyed his message through inventive mediums. He rewrote the industry rules, stomping on ideals and guidelines in the pursuit of individuality. 

 

This mantra is easily overlaid to the 1970/80’s Seditionaries punk rock movement, also known as the birth of bondage. Rejecting societal beliefs, the punk rockers dressed with expression and freedom, attracting mass attention on a global scale. Widely popularized by Malcom McLaren and Vivienne Westwood, bondage straps lined each garment with abrasive mediums and vile illustrations. The punk youth embraced their singularity through fashion and music, often preaching their anarchist mentalities. With help from the Sex Pistols and a burning strive for liberty, those who identified as punk altered the course of art through caustic thinking.

 

This alluring pair of trousers features am abundance of clasping bondage straps throughout and a soft pink base. Each belt is comprised of metallic buckles and razor sharp prongs, in which the pinstripe leash is fed into an adjustable belt loop. All four bondage sets can be wrapped in unique ways, allowing for a variety of styling opportunities as well. Gaultier has chose a silk and rayon textile blend as the base fabric, and utilized a high concentrate silk material for the inner lining. Tagged as a size 40 (30.5x30) and are great condition throughout with the exception of light use.
