90s Pelle Pelle ‘Mugshot’ Mafia Two Tone Leather Jacket
Pelle Pelle’s ties to contemporary street style is a relationship that continues to define the 21st century. As the first brand to produce luxury baggy denim, Marc Buchanan’s American built label worked to co-sign the 90s hip-hop community, as seen on the backs of modern day legends. Using rappers like Dru Hill and The Alkoholiks as marketing figureheads, Buchanan would be the first to unify popular culture with an opulent market while remaining anonymous. With only one photo of the shadowed designer online, Marc’s legacy is faceless, lit only by his playful designs and unparalleled leather work.
Debuting in the late 90s era, this iconic jacket features two tone detailing in a full leather exterior. A smoking man sits on the chest, draping down towards the bottom hem in a shadowed silhouette, accented only by ‘Pelle Pelle’ branding on the opposing side. Towards the back, four portraits stand, holding numeric signs while posting for their respective mugshots. Crafted entirely of individually dyed and stitched leather patches, a segregating cross divides the detainees, in contrast with a tonal yet synched bottom hem. Fitting massively oversized, this double extra large piece is showing signs of wear, with some discolouration and use throughout, but is still in good condition.
