90s Yasuyuki Ishii ‘Bondage’ Strap Reinforced Denim Cargo Pants
Yasuyuki Ishii is a timeless Japanese designer who’s never shied from mixed media. Dawning his career in the 80s as an object artist, he works in dark, brass tones, utilizing leathers and dense cotton textiles to bridge the gap between avant-garde and dystopian design. Having previously worked under Guy Laroche throughout the 90s, the creative also won the Kansai Yamamoto prize for a woven suit of armour during his creative infancy. Drawn to outlandish fabrics like goat leather and snakeskin, he pursues borderless ideas, often working in the factories himself to achieve desired aesthetics.
This pair of bottoms exemplify Ishii’s distinct attention to detail. Woven in a rigid denim base, the dirt wash is accented by a sporadic array of bondage strap details, synching either leg with metallic hardware and belt mechanisms. Symmetric cargos line either leg, in pair with top loading welt pockets and reinforced seams. Finalizing the piece, a stacking cut works among metallic hardware and adjustable hems. In great condition aside from a missing waist button, measuring a size 31.5x31.5.
