AW02 Junya Watanabe ‘Jewel’ Black Studded Chain Denim

Following Junya Watanabe’s notorious Spring 2002 collection “Poem”, the Japanese designer returned once again for his Autumn showing. The runway was a youthful ode to North-Eastern European culture, walking an array of punk-like motifs and plaid garments. Teaming up with Lewis Leathers, Britain’s oldest motorcycle apparel manufacturer, together the two debuted an array of statement pieces, each embellished with studded hardware. The season was tonal, yet authentic to Britain’s roots, exemplifying Watanabe’s expert patterning and cuts.

 

Debuting in Junya Watanabe’s Autumn 2002 collection, this iconic pair of denim features a series of gemstones atop a black denim base. Equipped with coin details, safety pins on the right leg and chains draping across the crotch, they come as a highly unique standout piece from the season. In pristine condition throughout, they fit a size 32x30.
