Takahiro Miyashita’s Autumn 2002 “Nowhere Man” collection, paid homage to various Rock n’ Roll legends. Through a series of graphics and silhouettes, he further emphasized his obsession with Western culture, releasing slogan tees with quotes and lyrics from hit singles. Gaining mass notoriety, the Autumn 2002 collection would showcase Miyashita’s distinct understanding of reference and cut.

 

Debuting in the Autumn of 2002, this t-shirt reads “Somebody Told Me” in an abrasive bold font. Likely referencing John Lennon’s 1984 single ‘Nobody Told Me’, Miyashita alters the lyrics ever so slightly. Printed atop a washed rustic blank, distressing runs along the neckline and body, tagged as a size small, fitting a medium.
