AW02 Undercover ‘Witches Cell’ .925 Silver Multi Cross Chain
Jun Takahashi’s Autumn 2002 collection titled ‘Witches Cell Division’ explored disruptive tropes of antichrist ideologies and transformative robots. Plastering crosses atop velour trousers, bombers and necklaces, the designer was clear in his intent to ignite controversy. In correlation with a discovery of hybrid textiles, Takahashi paired contrasting fabrics with a precise yet effortless approach, allowing for some rather mutinous, franken-esque garments to surface. Furthering the sacrilegious theme, items would read ‘Rebel Gods’ and ‘Heaven Hell’, in a direct mutiny of the Christian religion. Takahashi aimed to provoke the traditions of the fashion circuit, and in doing so, established himself as a respected Japanese creative.
Debuting in the Autumn of 2002, this incredibly rare necklace is crafted from a full .925 silver composite. With five assorted cross pendants, each varying in style and size, cut out religious motifs sit among beaded and rounded center pieces. Stacking atop one another, the chain links are finalized with Undercover’s signature ‘U’ logo, alongside an obscure ‘T’ character and .925 Silver stamp. In pristine condition throughout, spanning 17.75 inches in length.
