  • Jun Takahashi’s Autumn 2002 collection titled ‘Witches Cell Division’ explored disruptive tropes of antichrist ideologies and transformative robots. Plastering crosses atop velour trousers, bombers and necklaces, the designer was clear in his intent to ignite controversy. In correlation with a discovery of hybrid textiles, Takahashi paired contrasting fabrics with a precise yet effortless approach, allowing for some rather mutinous, franken-esque garments to surface. Furthering the sacrilegious theme, items would read ‘Rebel Gods’ and ‘Heaven Hell’, in a direct mutiny of the Christian religion. Takahashi aimed to provoke the traditions of the fashion circuit, and in doing so, established himself as a respected Japanese creative.

Debuting in the Autumn of 2002, these jeans truly isolate the vulgar ethos of Jun Takahashi’s gothic collection. With a black velvet strip down the sides of either leg, thrashed distressing coats the thighs, knees and shin, giving way to the name ‘crash’ denim. Under layered with additional denim reinforcement, each rip is accented by brash metallic hardware and an ash grey wash. In pristine condition, these bottoms fit a 28x30.5.
