AW03 Dolce & Gabbana ‘Distressed’ Double Layered Knit Sweater

Dolce & Gabbana’s most notorious Autumn 2003 collection, regarded as the beginning of the house’s prime era (just a season after the womenswear “SEX” show), catered to a new audience, pulling from the likes of BDSM and highly utilitarian garments. Without fear, straps encompass the male silhouette, wrapping and straining extremities through belts and bondage straps. The collection paid homage to artists like Helmut Lang and Jean Paul Gaultier, shifting the course of generational design while unapologetically stepping in areas of rather “taboo” utility.
