  • Hedi Slimane’s reign at Dior reinvented our perceptions of the male silhouette indefinitely, becoming synonymous with the waif figure and embraced femininity. However, in the designer’s Autumn 2006 collection, Slimane turns to a mantra of Couture with refreshingly baggy silhouettes and dark tones. Walking the runway alongside a burning pillar, the models (thin as per usual) were engulfed by purposefully oversized trousers and night wear alike. Although formal, flamboyance was seen in glimmers of fur coats and napoleon-esque clasps, but overall was a rather subtle collection.

Debuting in look 13/45, the highly sought after “Cummerbund” hybrid denim is first seen in pair with a slim blazer and tie. By tradition, a cummerbund is used to discreetly hide the unhinged tucks of a dress shirt, typically worn under a suit or blazer. In this case, Slimane reinterprets this symbol of classic atelier by combining two upper hems. Doing so in a distressed fashion, the denim’s raw stature is accentuated alongside ribbing and a stunning wash. Fitting a size x, in great condition throughout.
