AW07 Dolce & Gabbana ‘Poodle Fur’ Cropped Suede Leather Jacket

Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2007 womenswear collection is perhaps the Italian label’s most controversial. Incorporating exotic textiles like poodle fur into jackets, the move would spark mass outrage among animal rights activists and many members of the public. Leading to protests and a widespread boycott of the label, backlash would stir as many debated the practices involved to obtain the materials, a question which Dolce & Gabbana refrained from commenting on. Despite criticism, D&G would ultimately release these runway items, before shifting towards more sustainable and animal-friendly textiles in later years.

 

Debuting in 2007, this jacket features a thick poodle fur collar and sleeve hems, among a suede external base and contrasting stitching throughout. Accompanied by belting systems on either cuff and large buttons on the torso, the cropped silhouette is accentuated with elongated sleeves and a tonal base. Tagged as a size 38, this piece is in pristine condition throughout.
