AW19 Comme des Garçons Silver Chain Chest Rig Harness

For Rei Kawakubo’s Fall 2019 collection, the designer strived to “find beauty in the dark”. With an assertive, black dominant runway, spiked motifs sat among heavily lined makeup and revealing textiles. Projecting a feeling of angst, an anxiety often found in the dark, Kawakubo encourages the audience to embrace such discomfort and dig deeper. Exemplified in each fitting, tailored suits and draping silhouettes sat beneath bondage strap detailing as an accessory to unease. With a raw edge, the collection blended two distinct parallels effortlessly, making for a highly unique runway presentation.

 

This chest rig exemplifies Kawakubo’s vision for Fall 2019. Crafted in a heavyweight stainless steel textile, geometric detailing runs across the torso, in pair with carabiners and free standing chainlinks. Draping over the body, the harness is intended to confirm to one’s silhouette, in pristine condition throughout (hoodie not included with purchase).
