Although a rather overlooked Antwerp Six alumni, the designer has been successful in provoking a mantra of utility over his three decade reign. By pivoting into the world of athletics at the turn of the century, Bikkembergs’ can be accredited with the indulgence of many following namesakes and pushed luxury sportswear as a whole. He would often experiment with local Belgian football teams to gauge cuts and designs, this niche becoming a main focus later on. The Flemish creative’s approach to masculinity is wildly unique, consistently innovating in his own regard.
