AW99 Helmut Lang ‘Astro’ Brown Moleskin Biker Pants
Helmut Lang’s Fall 1999 collection remains a hallmark in fashion history. Drawing inspiration from aviation and space travel, the utilitarian designer strayed far from the norms of couture, unveiling bulky, armour-like silhouettes. Metallic garments paid homage to the original NASA suits, while moto detailing and reinforced hems lined every garment. The palette was neutral with exception of vibrant electric-orange hues intermittently placed throughout, among subtle hits of indigo denim. From cargo pockets to parachute detailing, Lang exemplified a dystopian, futuristic vision. Being the first collection to release both online and via CD-Rom format, the season was chocked with innovation and a first of its kind.
Debuting in Helmut Lang’s Autumn 1999 collection, this incredible pair of chocolate brown astro pants come in a moleskin base. Fit with exposed zipper hardware on the waistband alongside clasping hand pocket mechanisms, Moto-inspired reinforcement is also found on either knee. To finish, transformable flared detailing sits atop the bottom hem, which is patched with leather as well. Fitting a size 33x32.5, these come in pristine condition throughout.
