AW09 Dior by Kris Van Assche “Angles” Knitted Sweater
“Angles” was the title of Kris Van Assche’s Fall 2009 collection, an ode to the symmetry of tailoring and our preconceived notions. Triangular cuts, rigid edges and sharp hems encompassed the form fitting silhouette, while contrasting irony sept through bold fonts that faced graphic tees. The lettering nods to Katharine Hamnett's 1980’s originals, obscene stanzas supporting the overacting theme of systematic, youthful revolt. A distant feeling of New Wave culture plagued the runway as Aschee reinterpreted our ideals of the human silhouette, using linear “angles” in opposition the human body’s fluency. Reworking our perceptions, much like the New Wave rebellion did, Kris Van Assche ties the two in an unexpected, concise regard.
Maybe the most accurate depiction of the irony and symmetric disposition found in Dior Fall 2009, this sweater illustrates the defining attributes of both acute and obtuse angles. Scribed in a 90 degree formation itself, the white graphic is knitted into the navy blue textile. In pristine condition throughout, fitting a size medium.
