Jean Paul Gaultier—the French designer who has truly mastered the art of bold, abstract and stunning full print garments. Gaultier founded his menswear label in 1984, pushing social boundaries from the beginning. Consciously reconstructing the vision of beauty, he experimented without remorse. Utilizing rebellious textiles, Gaultier conveyed his message through inventive mediums. He rewrote the industry rules, stomping on ideals and guidelines in the pursuit of individuality.
Deriving from the Fall 2003 collection, this skin fitting tank-top is a testament to Gaultier’s influence and creative ability. Featuring a punk-esque individual in the foreground of a looming clock, the tank speaks to that of the unattainable, time. In doing so, rustic aging is found, pursuing the grunge aesthetic.
