Watanabe travelled deep into the arteries of the UK’s most dominant city, repurposing the grunge wave that overthrew the late 70s. Paying homage to creatives like Vivienne Westwood and Malcom McLaren, we’d see an array of knits reminiscent of the punk rock era, fluently battered with distressing. Paired with tropes of utility, Watanabe would solidify Fall 2003 as a height of his career, reinventing timeless silhouettes effortlessly.
