Takahiro Miyashita’s Fall 2009 capsule collection retains an untouched legacy. Doubling as both his final showing and long awaited partnership with photographer Charles Peterson, the product summarized Miyashita’s reign at his eponymous label. Throughout the 90’s, Peterson established a relationship with Sub-pop, documenting the rise of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and others. Almost exclusively captured in a monochromatic format, the creative refused to crop or alter his imagery to preserve an authentic attitude. His photos were raw and personal, seen through his eyes at the forefront of pop-culture’s upheaval.
Captured in the pit of Endfest, a music festival hosted in Washington D.C, Charles Peterson illustrates the raw and unapologetic attitude local youth retained. Shot at Mudhoney’s 1991 set, the belligerent crowd is seen in the heat of an angst filled cesspool, flaring with obscenities and fists. Congruent with the capsule collection, this graphic is embedded into the jean textile, fading each negative image onto the next. Encompassing the front and back paneling, metallic details complement the monochromatic palette effortlessly. Fitting a size 30x30, in great condition throughout.
