  • ‘Ganryu’ is a sub-label of the Comme des Garçons umbrella directed by Japanese creative Fumito Ganryu. Founded in 2008, the designer first interned as a pattern cutter for Junya Watanabe and would work to establish his own namesake under Kawakubo’s reign. Finding his footing, he’d take an experimental approach to CDG traditions, opting to create obscurity on a personal level. Described as “forward thinking casual wear”, Ganryu pushes focus on building ‘classics’ from afar that only reveal themselves from up close. His collections are highly unique, not in presentation, but in wear, looking to obscure textiles, construction ethos, and design.

Debuting in the Autumn of 2012, these jeans epitomize Ganryu’s distinctive design philosophy. From aways away, this pair of denim appears to be entirely normal, while a bit oversized, the dark indigo was is complimented by a wide cut and contrast stitching. However, when coming closer, a total of five waistbands become wildly apparent, each with their own set of belt loops and button clasp mechanisms. In pristine condition throughout, with a dropped 19 inch rise, measuring a 36 waist and 23 inch inseam.
