Returning to the fashion circuit five years after his departure at Dior in 2007, Hedi Slimane announced his position at Saint Laurent as successor to Stefano Pilati in 2012. Reviving the couture line for the first time since 2002, as well as modernizing the label by removing Yves from Saint Laurent - Slimane altered the inner workings of an otherwise deceased house. Straying far away from the classic elegance of Yves Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane planted bountiful youth and rocker-chic counterculture into the roots of the label. Met with opinions and judgement, the creative perused his vision nevertheless with sheer ingenuity and determination. Slimane rehashed Yves Saint Laurent’s 1960’s freedom driven designs, calling for skinny cut silhouettes and rockstar soundtracks.

 

The fall 2014 collection threw aside tradition for obnoxious prints, skinny denim and embellished leather jackets. Walking to the sound of underground Southern California indie/rock band - Froth, Hedi Slimane debuted a feeling of thrashed high-class. Drum heavy, flat vocals paired beautifully with an unbothered yet complete persona each model held. Tailored cuts sat harmoniously with both leather and teddy jackets, pulling refined dignity from a mutiny of the original Yves Saint Laurent style. Hedi Slimane exemplified the new Saint Laurent persona in the autumn show, proving his worth with each look.

 

The denim showcased is a never-released sample, featuring a multitude of weaved chains through coarse denim. At it’s base a rather simple garment, Hedi Slimane has elevated this piece to new heights with movement and dexterity. Four individual chains stretch the outer length of the jean, paired with metallic hardware as well. In perfect condition fitting a size 30x32.5.
