FW16 Margiela Lighter Singe Reconstructed Indigo Wash Denim

Martin Margiela - a fashion forefather, avant-grade pioneer and anti-fashion enthusiast. Swimming against the current of haute couture in the late 1980’s, Margiela designed a new definition for fashion in spite of previously retained social norms. The creative worked in conjunction with his team to deconstruct each and every preconceived notion of wearable art, crafting pieces far ahead of their time. Margiela built a new understanding to clothing behind a wall of intense anonymity, letting each piece speak for both itself and the Maison. Martin Margiela questioned the industry and in turn the audience, making for enthralling collections over many decades.

 

Deriving from the ⑩ menswear line, this reconstructed denim summarizes the effortless minimalism Maison Margiela perfected. Two singe marks sit quietly to the right of the zipper-fly, almost as if a lighter of sorts was pressed into the textile while adding a unique personality to the garment. Towards the bottom hem, either leg is reworked, one replacing the jean with a light grey cotton fabric in subtle contrast. Tagged as a size 28, fitting as (28x27) and in good condition aside from light use and some discolouration.
