FW17 Haider Ackermann “Transgressive” Hybrid Leather Blazer

Haider Ackermann’s Fall 2017 collection sought to push the boundaries of modernistic tailoring. The designer invited us into the shadows of a dimly lit room, diverting attention towards the vibrant red carpet. This season Ackermann approached his forte with an unforgiving aptitude, setting a precedent for craft in each and every look. Affluence seemed to drip off the leathers and blossoming velvet pigments that walked, silhouettes concise and form fitting. Colour was controlled but plentiful, patterns lining many of the garments in abstract, succinct ways. As a final statement of dexterity, Haider Ackermann debuted an array of hybrid vests, pants and most prominently, blazers, which would combine textiles of utmost prestige. The Fall 2017 collection demonstrated Ackermann’s unchallenged position in the world of couture, and extreme proficiency in the traditions of design.

 

First seen in look 23/31, this “Transgressive” leather blazer remains a centrepiece and holy grail of Haider Ackermann’s reign. White stitching fragments the contrast between a leather and velvet exterior, accentuated by an array of zippered pockets and metallic detailing. Tassels drape while a freestanding belt synchs the torso, and cuffs are optionally flared. Buttons clasp a variety of storage compartments, while a cosmetic belt hangs behind. A testament to Haider Ackermann’s vast portfolio, this blazer is extremely sought after and will not be seen again. Tagged as a size 54 or extra-large, in new condition.
