While fashion is often an expression of maximalism, Miuccia Prada has always stayed true to wearable design. Her Fall 2017 collection was no different, exploring the subtleties of everyday life through tones and nature. Muting the baggage of extravagance, Prada aimed to go “from bigness to smallness” through elevated yet simplistic design, focusing on “More human, more simple, more real” perspectives. From that, came an abundance of beautifully illustrated knitwear, draping overcoats, and chic hits of delicate fur. The runway, ever so concise, retained the core ethos of Prada’s masterful design, strategically placing hits of vibrant colours among fall hues. In all, the collection sits among the upper echelon of the designer’s portfolio, regularly applauded for such depthful understanding of palette and wearability.
First seen in look 28/55, the Shetland Village knitted sweater is undoubtedly the poster boy of Fall 2017. Coming in a warm palette, vibrant hues of turquoise leach from the watercolours of a humble village. Located on the Shetland Islands in Scotland, the background, simplistic yet defined, falls onto either sleeve and the towards underside. Composed of a wool knitted textile, this increasingly sought after sweater is in great condition throughout aside from a pinhole near the neckline, and fits a size small.
