Founded in 2015 by Matthew Williams, 1019 Alyx 9SM is a utility focused namesake. Defined between the lines of luxury and streetwear, the label bears a load of affluence in regard to construction and tailoring. On the contrary, Williams refuses shy from traditional ‘street’ production methods like screen printing and up cycling, either appearing frequently in his work. Beginning with womenswear upon debut, the namesake introduced masculine silhouettes just two years later in 2017. Releasing infamous silhouettes like the roller coaster belt, Alyx steadily grew in popularity, seen on the likes of Ye and Bella Hadid. Today, Matthew Williams sits as a renown creative, continuing to further our understanding of utilitarian design.
Teaming up with Japanese punk label Blackmeans for Fall 2019, the effort would be unveiled as a capsule collection featuring an array of biker silhouettes. Among such lies the highly sought after thrashed black denim, as shown above. Featuring heavily distressed paneling both front and back, the shaggy textile is accented by intermittent breaks along the pockets and crotch area. Complete with metallic hardware and a dark wash, the skinny cut silhouette is exaggerated by a stacking leg and slim cut. Fitting a size 32x34, in new with tags condition.
