SS01 Jean Paul Gaultier Face Constellation Camp Collar Shirt
Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2001 menswear collection brought a playful sense of vibrance and saturation. Though tailored cuts were scattered in an mass array of draping silhouettes, the designer was far more liberal with billowing profiles. As Gaultier tends to do, he once again explored the prospects of full print designs, like the infamous “book” motif and constellation efforts. Colourful hues appeared to radiate off the silky textiles while retaining a degree of poise as his shows traditionally do. He expressed with flamboyance but also retained control, making this collection a standout among his portfolio.
Employing all aspects of the Spring 2001 collection, this camp collar shirt features a wrapping psychedelic graphic in a navy blue tint. The staggered illustration utilizes a variation of pointillism to depict an assumed man, painting all axis of the garment. Fitted with a breast pocket and comprised of a lush textile, the camp collar then accentuates the adorning cut. Fitting a size medium in pristine condition.
