  • John Galliano’s Spring 2002 collection celebrated diversity in representation of street, Arab and Western culture. The wide contrast of ethnic tropes were presented in harmony, intertwining and honouring the differences between each. As gothic text sat atop oversized jersey silhouettes, lavish motifs of traditional Bedouins walked, finalized with the inception of Occidental cowboy hats. Curbing the lore of Christian Dior’s heritage, Galliano shied from conformity to showcase an unexplored aspect of the maison, pushing boundaries through experiment and play.

Among the variety of textiles, prints and grail-worthy garments introduced, the assortment of gothic tank tops remain highly sought after. Goth and shadowed niche have always been viewed as a rejective of haute couture, making the induction under a label of Dior’s caliber quite foreign. Reading “Christian Dior” in an provoking font, the lettering continues onto the back as “1947” is laid asymmetrically. Portraying a nod to founding year of Dior, the sleeveless top is completed with a monochromatic palette. Fitting a size extra small, in pristine condition throughout.
