SS02 Helmut Lang ‘Braided’ Cashmere Black Cut Out Knitted Sweater

Helmut Lang, one of the most celebrated designers of the modern era, is a quintessential designer that has altered the way we view fashion. Debuting in 1986, over three decades later Lang’s designs are consistently used as key inspiration in which modern art thrives off of. Lang has effectively created a cult like following as a result of innovation and adaptation in a period of cultural change. Revolving the entirety of the late 90’s and and early 00’s dressing the post ravers and punk rock community, Lang reignited the image of each, dressing the community in militaristic “formal” attire. Debuting in look 45/59 of Helmut Lang’s Spring 2002 collection, this incredible feat of tailoring comes in a black virgin wool / cashmere base. Tediously braiding and sewing the fabric panels to create an interlocking cut out sweater, when worn, this piece reveal’s the chest and portions of the arm, creating an incredible contrast between skin and textile. Tagged as a size 40 or medium, this oversized piece comes in pristine condition throughout.
