SS04 Number (N)ine ‘Dream Baby Dream’ Mesh Striped Long Sleeve
Takahiro Miyashita’s Spring 2004 collection was inspired by the 1970’s British punk rock movement. Titled “Dream Baby Dream” as an ode to Suicide’s 6 minute hit single, the Clash’s “London Calling” played harmoniously to the beat of each step. An overarching theme was chalked with reference, leather accessories and a scruff aesthetic deriving from Suicide frontman Alan Vega, while leather biker cuts and loose fitting suits furthered the uncut style. The collection remains a pivotal point of the Japanese designer’s career, encompassing the London aesthetic with ease.
Debuting in Takahiro Miyashita’s Spring 2004 collection, the Japanese designer creates an ode Kurt Cobain’s iconic red striped mohair sweater. Altering the garment to assume a mesh, fishnet textile, raw hems encircle the wearer’s torso, in turn revealing the naked body. Tagged as a size large, this piece is in pristine condition throughout.
