SS04 Yohji Yamamoto Y-3 X Adidas ‘Three Stripe’ Claw Mark Denim
Yohji Yamamoto’s collaborative effort with Adidas began in the 2003. Under the namesake ‘Y-3’, a play on the sportswear label’s three stripes and the Y in Yamamoto, together they’d bring affluence to the activewear sector. Inaugurating Adidas as an official runway label, we’d watch as classic silhouettes were reinvented atop the catwalk. With a touch of affluence, Yamamoto’s expert tailoring came in pair with Adidas’ unparalleled manufacturing capabilities, making for tech-centric staples, high fashion dresses and revolutionary marketing tactics. Continuing to dominate in its entirely unique domain, Y-3 alters our perceptions of sport and fashion time and time again.
Debuting in the Spring of 2004, this pair of denim effortlessly demonstrates Yamamoto’s understanding of cut and palette. In a tasteful stone washed grey, slashed three striped claw mark detailing runs along the underside of the jeans, emerging from the back pocket and finalizing atop the bottom hem. Referenced for Balenciaga’s recent collaboration with Adidas, these jeans have become incredibly lucrative as a result, not only for their fit, but influence on contemporary design. In a wide, baggy cut, they’re finalized with a Y-3 branded jacron label, ‘spotted horse’ tag and metallic hardware throughout. In pristine condition, fitting a size 34x31.
