SS05 Comme des Garçons Homme Plus ‘Pink Panther’ Cyclist Jersey

Rei Kawakubo’s Spring 2005 collection has become renown as a grail-worthy season, studded with infamous and historical pieces. Best summarized by the Japanese designer’s collaboration with Pink Panther, a 1968 mystery-based cartoon series, together the collaborative effort would release a wide variety of athletic wear and essentials. Plastering the animated mammal atop jerseys, t-shirts and hoodies, we’d see a focus towards the Panther’s signature pink palette and sleek silhouette. Nearly two decades after release, these garments have only rose in popularity as they continue to elude die-hard collectors.

 

Debuting in the Spring of 2005, this Bicycle jersey remains as the height of the Pink Panther collaboration. With a mesh silhoutte, ‘été’ or ‘Summer’ lettering runs across the chest, in pair with 2005 numbering on the backside. Just beneath, the pink Panther stands with his arms crossed, accented by a series of standing figures in boxes. Dotted racing motifs then encompass either shoulder, finalized with Comme Des Garçons Homme Plus branding towards the bottom hem. Tagged as a size medium, this piece is in pristine condition throughout.
