SS05 Rick Owens ‘Devil Horn’ Cut Out Washed Denim Jacket

Still establishing himself as a designer in the Parisian fashion circuit, Rick Owens’ 2005 collection was a monumental shift for the young creative. Having perfected asymmetric cuts and the world of leather, Owens’ opted for a rather eccentric take on the womenswear realm. Prompting hues of cinnamon, fuschia pink and burnt orange, a contrast from his often monochromatic showings, the designer set his focus on experiment and innovation. Horned jackets and impossibly high-neck fittings encompassed each model as they walked, offering a dystopian look with an unseen attitude. In all, the collection represented a much needed pivot for the American designer, pushing him to new heights in the public frame.

 

Emphasized in present day, Rick Owens’ retains an aptitude for unorthodox and nuance. Showcased ever so prominently through the horned denim jacket shown, two cut out details sit atop either shoulder, protruding in an outwards manner. Folding to create this desired effect, paneling runs through symmetric cargo pockets, clasped with metallic details and finalized with an earthy wash. In great condition throughout, fitting a size small with a cropped cut and elongated sleeves.
