SS09 Alexander McQueen “Flame” Graphic Button Down Shirt

Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2009 collection brought a calm contrast to the eccentric personality his namesake has become synonymous with. In opposition to theatrics and boundary pushing stage design, the audience was met with McQueen’s iteration of subtlety, which was of course, quite flamboyant. Cuts were a focal point throughout the collection, portraying a base to the shocking duality found in hybrid garments and nudist, stripper-like feats. Outside of the typical striking silhouettes and jaw dropping tailoring, McQueen dabbled in the field of graphic design. Ombré, abstract motifs and minimalistic symbols walked, and yet stayed true to the overarching feeling of couture.

 

Illustrative of the Spring 2009 show, this collared button down showcases a rising flame atop the left panel. Intertwined with smoke and warm hues, the shirt screams McQueen but speaks in whispers as a result of the muted design philosophy. Fitting a size medium, in great condition throughout.
