Martin Margiela - a fashion forefather, avant-grade pioneer and anti-fashion enthusiast. Swimming against the current of haute couture in the late 1980’s, Margiela designed a new definition for fashion in spite of previously retained social norms. The creative worked in conjunction with his team to deconstruct each and every preconceived notion of wearable art, crafting pieces far ahead of their time. Margiela built a new understanding to clothing behind a wall of intense anonymity, letting each piece speak for both itself and the Maison. Martin Margiela questioned the industry and in turn the audience, making for enthralling collections over many decades.

A common motif in Margiela’s work - the face, plays in irony to the anonymous maison. As seen on the garment showcased, a man sits with a loathing expression. The graphic uses negative space to illustrate the silhouette while highlighting key attributes of the man, creating an impressionable garment. Tagged as a size 50, fitting true to size - in pristine condition.
