SS16 Haider Ackermann Oversized “Perth” Raglan Zip-up Cargo Hoodie

Haider Ackermann’s Spring 2016 collection resides at the beginning of his prime era. Lit in broad daylight, a contrast to his often dim, eerie runway shows, his audience was met with a fleeting persona. As Ackermann put it, “these are all my fantasies of escape”, a statement that becomes increasingly prevalent in each garment. Weather he intended to run from the principles of design or congruence itself, the designer meshed absurd patterning techniques effortlessly. Layering cheetah print loafers among zebra socks and a pinstripe suit, one can get lost, quickly, but Ackermann reigned one’s eye in a formal regard. Draping silhouettes were synched at the waist, while oversized textiles exaggerated model’s waif figures. It became clear the designer strived to experiment, and most definitely escape from pervasive norms.

 

The “Perth” namesake is a long lasting endeavour of the Haider Ackermann label, returning season after season with improved renditions. The garment above was new to the Spring 2016 season, featuring an oversized, boxy profile, complimented by cloak sleeves and a framing hood. Detailed with reinforced hems and symmetric cargo pockets, the washed paneling is distressed to emulate an aged look. Fitting massively oversized, tagged as an extra-small but easily sizing an extra-large, in great condition aside from light use.
