SS18 Gucci Appliqué Koi Fish Chino Trousers

Working at the Gucci maison since 2002, Alessandro Michele was appointed to creative director in 2015, marking the end of an era for Frida Giannini, and an overhaul for Michele. Since, Gucci has transcended from a once formal label into one of the rather intimate, consistently providing viewers with eccentric yet challenging experiences. Although suits, loafers and trousers still walk the runway, Michele successfully reinvented the modern perception of Gucci into a loose persona. Fluidity and new life was brought forth as individuality prospered through new colours, silhouettes and crushed social norms. Alessandro Michele unapologetically altered the narrative Gucci pursued over decades, subsequently reviving the label into a new space of vibrance. Remaining creative director as of today, it’s hard to predict what’s next for the Italian designer, but it’s eagerly awaited nonetheless.

 

Found in the Spring 2018 collection, just three years of the induction of Alessandro Michele, an array of appliqué trousers were released, instantly gaining notoriety. The most notable from such, the Koi Fish motif, sits embellished atop a chino base. Radiating with deep hues of red and orange, beside sits a symbol of Michele’s reign - the UFO, in fitting aesthetic. In great condition overall with two small marks of discolouration on the right leg, fitting a 32x26 with 12 inch rise.
