SS19 Junya Watanabe Tactical Multi Pocket Utility Cargo Vest

Junya Watanabe’s Spring 2019 collection played on tropes of utility through a youthful lens. Recreating our childhood heroes atop the runway, the Japanese designer immersed viewers in a familiar setting akin to beloved action figures and idols alike. Elevating playful thinking with utilitarian hues, Watanabe worked in collaboration with ArkAir and Gore-Tex to craft military grade hybrid garments, using rigid textiles in pair with soft fittings. Communicating a feeling of childhood amusement while retaining such high technical standards is no easy feat, yet the designer does so effortlessly, making for a highly notable collection.

 

Standing among the heights of Watanabe’s Spring 2019 collection, this vest first debuted in look 4/47. Embodying the overarching theme, this vest features a navy blue grid base and eight 3D cargo pockets. Affixed with button snap closures, rigid hardware sits atop the shoulders and underside, making for adjustable sizing throughout. Complete with a vibrant camo interior and additional pockets, this vest is one size fits all in pristine condition throughout.
