The SS2019 collection by Junya Watanabe was one of which he summed up as, “the innocent childhood sensibility of obsessing over heroes and hobbies.” This simple one liner perfectly embodies the collection’s utilitarian, militaristic theme. Based upon deep indigo wash denim, viewing from straight on it seems as if these are a standard pair of cropped Levi’s. From behind however, the story is shifted. Earth toned camouflage flows from the waist hem all the way to the lower thigh. The lower back panelling is then replaced with a subtle pinstripe olive material. Three quarters down the panel, the fabric becomes reversible and when cuffed more camo protrudes. This pair of denim is meant to pertain a cropped stature, hence the 33x34 measurement.
