SS20 Doublet ‘Mask’ Face Reversible Ginger Knitted Sweater

Doublet is an emerging Japanese luxury street wear label designed by Masayuki Ino. Experimenting atop the runway since 2012, he graduated from Tokyo Mode Gakuen College of Fashion and Design, and swiftly became a long-term apprentice under Mihara Yasuhiro. Sharing similarly obscure design philosophies as the previously established creative, he coined the label ‘Doublet’ after the alternate name for the word puzzle, invented by Lewis Carroll, the author of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Continuously reinventing our ideals of wearable fashion through headless track jackets, bear leg bottoms and reversible clown knit sweaters, Ino’s perspective on the catwalk continues to distort traditional ideologies.

 

Debuting in the Spring of 2020, this knitted top features an incredibly unique design attribute. Fit with an inverted face on the chest, when flipped onto the wearer’s head, a shaggy, ginger haired mask is revealed, draping a blotchy beard from the chin. Equipped with concealing sunglasses and what appears to be a mask, the pixelated figure accents the dropped shoulder, oversized plum sweater to finish. Tagged as a size small, fitting a large, in pristine condition throughout.
