SS20 Vetements ‘Ecstasy’ Logo Oversized Graphic T-Shirt

Demna Gvasalia’s Spring 2020 collection at Vetements took place in a McDonalds. Yes, you read that right, in opposition to big-budget runways chalked with lights, music and affluence, Gvasalia would debut a series of ironic graphics and massively oversized cuts in just infront of golden arches. Teased with branded condom invitations, the models would weave between customers eating fries, strolling with Airpods in as the Georgian designer would make a mockery of our extravagant, haute-couture expectations. Without a single form fitting piece in sight, each look would stand with a massive excess of fabric, logos and colours. Speaking to the theme of American over-indulgence, Demna Gvasalia would consciously choose to caution audience members of greed and gluttony, tropes that are often unspoken yet incredibly apparent in the fashion industry.

 

Debuting in the Spring of 2020, this re-edition t-shirt comes as a standout of Demna Gvasalia’s collection. Reworking the iconic Internet Explorer emblem, the Georgian designer alters the program’s text to read ‘ecstasy’, while maintaining the electric blue colouring. Accented with embroidered text on the collar’s underside, the garment is cut in a massively oversized silhouette, tagged as a size medium, fitting an extra-large.
