SS21 Mihara Yasuhiro ‘Hybrid’ Rave Shorts Denim Cargo Pants
Mihara Yasuhiro’s Spring 2021 collection titled ‘More or Less’ opened with comedic, live action video, bringing Takaumi Furuhashi’s puppets to life on screen. Preceding Yasuhiro’s collection, which centred around tropes of anonymity, the characters would portray self-consumed dolls, harshly contrasting the model’s blurred and pixelated faces. In an unlikely cross of media, Mihara Yasuhiro stated “I wanted people to be free to imagine why I did it. I think that when people imagine their own reasons in their own philosophies, their views change.” He then added, “When humans solve problems, new problems arise. What is the problem?... The reason I like fashion is that the more I pursue it, the more I ask the question ‘What is fashion?’ There is no answer, because there is no problem at all.” Through question, Yasuhiro examines our consumeristic habits, removing celebrity from our authentic perceptions of clothing.
Debuting in the Spring of 2021, these hybrid pants come as highly unique cross between jorts and cargos. Featuring a washed, layered denim upper, distressing runs throughout the sandy base, in contrast to an ash grey cotton bottom. Along the leg, pockets unzip to reveal hidden compartments and D-Ring accenting, in pair with a transparent card holder and metallic hardware. In pristine condition throughout, fitting a size 31x28, with a 14 inch dropped crotch.
