SS23 Rick Owens EDFU ‘Bolan’ Gradient Flared Oversized Denim

Rick Owens Spring 2023 collection was titled Edfu in reference to the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus. Having recently travelled to Egypt, this season’s work was clearly influenced by his experiences overseas, walking 45 looks atop tan, concrete stairs, amidst the presence of a flaming fireballs dropping from a massive crane. Working throughout the show, the mechanisms picked up two-meter spheres, lit them ablaze, and repetitively dropped them into the Palais de Tokyo fountain below. Owens’ described his act, by stating the “fireballs are flaming suns, arcing across the sky, and crashing to the ground. But I did it on repeat because it happens over and over”. He was referring to the human fear of extinction, and portrayed it through the collection’s aggressive yet comforting theme. With a wide variety of colours, palettes androgynous and asymmetric cuts, Rick Owens finished by saying, “'I’m always trying to reassure myself that whatever is happening in the world right now—whatever conflict or crisis or discomfort—it’s happened before. And somehow goodness has always triumphed over evil, because otherwise we wouldn’t be here now.”.

 

Debuting in the Spring of 2023, these massively oversized ‘Bolan’ bottoms measure 58 inches in length. Complete with a two tone gradient hue, the flared cut is complimented by a tapered knee and metallic hardware throughout. Stacking at the hem, the bellow gorgeously, fitting as a size 30x38, in pristine condition throughout.
