Debuting in 1986, Helmut Lang’s timeless silhouettes and minimalistic persona has altered the modern expectation of fashion. The designer pushed a mantra of utility rather than beauty, breaking free of the high fashion circuit. His designs filled a void of professional individualism, making way for new caveat of self expression in a white-collar exterior. Through the 90’s and early 2000’s Helmut Lang reignited the image of post-punk rockers, dressing the community in militaristic ‘formal’ attire. Prospering through years of obscure trends and avant-garde thinking, Lang evidently perfected the art of fashion through nineteen years of triumph.
Exemplifying the militaristic persona Helmut Lang had begun to establish only a few seasons prior, this moto jacket draws from the ethos of both utility and minimalism. Coming in a hue of burnt orange, a MA-1 style pocket is seen on the right chest while symmetric welt pockets sit near the bottom hem. Driving from Helmut Lang’s prime era, this jacket is accented with metallic detailing and a nylon exterior to finish. Tagged as a size 50, fitting a medium, in great condition throughout.
